Playground Workout #1
Greetings, Hammers. We created a playground-themed workout for all of you. (You don't even need a playground if you don't have one). But it's a great butt kicker. Let's build those muscles!!!! https://youtu.be/IdrPeeEaik0

Aerobic Activity
Greetings Hammers!!! We know you've all been cooped up inside this week so this weekend it's important to get a long run in to get some of that aerobic cardio going. 3 miles or 30 minutes should get rid of some of those cobwebs in your lungs.
Wrestling Workout
https://youtu.be/w9wQtx0yyHg Greetings Hammers!!! We created a workout program so nobody loses any progress. This workout is an exercise circuit using famous wrestlers (and a UFC champion) as demonstrators. If it's too hard, go at your own pace. If it's too easy, increase the weight used. If you think you're tough...try it twice 😁 Enjoy!!!

Jason Nolf
Jason Nolf did an Instagram live session today. A certain handsome and dashing coach from Team Hammer asked the question about the difference between his high school, college, and senior level practices. High school - practices are centered around sprints, toughness, and drilling technique. College - practices are more laid back because technique is already expected to be known and toughness is already there which is why they're wrestling at the college level. They spend more

J.B.'s Diet
A lot of you are in your "bulking" cycles and eating everything in sight, but here's a newly released video of Jordan Burroughs' diet to keep in mind for next season. Knowledge is power and nerds rule the world. https://youtu.be/4ULgkgyf8k8

Ending the Season
Our season ended yesterday with the State tournament being canceled due to the Coronavirus. Several of these kids were ranked in the state and would have brought home some serious hardware. And the team was positioned to win an AA State title. We were all a little heartbroken. All that dieting and hard work with no closure for the season. But we had two choices: 1.) Cry about it 2.) Start grinding for next season These kids showed up and grinded out a fun practice and then di

Battle Hardened
Check out this highlight of two of the top ranked 12-year-olds in Missouri battling it out in the Regional finals with the entire gym cheering. This is why we spend so much time on mental preparation and toughness. Landen from Team Hammer was down by 2 points with time ticking down in the 3rd period. With all that stress, and the last match of the day, and being tired in the 3rd, Landen remembered his training and used a set up, hit his favorite leg attack, tried his favorite

Regionals
We had an amazing and tough day of wrestling. There were some hard fought come-from-behind victories and some absolute heartbreakers where we fell short. Regionals is a rollercoaster and the most emotional part of the year for everyone. Congrats to the following wrestlers on qualifying for State (and if your name isn't on this list, set some big goals for this offseason and keep grinding. It's a marathon, not a sprint. The work will always be there waiting for you). Kemper Th

Studying Great Role Models
Coach Thomas took some time this week to talk about mental preparation, a good attitude, and positive leadership. They studied Chase Saldate and Jesse Vasquez and how they prepared for their California State finals matches and watched their post match interviews. Kids learn better from watching their heroes in action than from coaches just verbally telling them information.

Positive Attitude / Positive Leadership
We are a positive team. We believe in hyping kids up and putting the emphasis on the work that needs to be done. We don't put kids down or blame or yell at them and throw their failures in their face. And we expect that same behavior in them as teammates to each other. This sport is a journey that they're all on together. There's going to be setbacks as well as successes. We try to handle both humbly and respectfully. This sport is a marathon, not a sprint. We don't care if y
